Redox is out!

Hey all, I’m Decobird, one of the creators of Redox.

Given the fact you’re reading this, you may be aware that Redox is a game that you can play right now! It took over a month of coding, writing, art-ing and bug fixing but I’m proud to give you the game that you can try out now, or maybe have already played! I hope you’ve been enjoying the times of Cara, Ewan and Kelly more than they are.

I’ll keep our first post quick, just some acknowledgements, admissions as well as a few points on plans going forward. You may even get to see some bad art from me, isn’t that fun?

Thanking everyone

This was a team effort, so I want to take this time to thank my partner in rust Morodoll (who you should hear from soon!) for being the other half of coming up with Redox as well as writing an amazing script, Imogen Mangle for some beautiful character designs and cover art and Butterfly Latte for her always impeccable talk sprites. Their talent is what makes Redox not only good to read and look at, but also actually able to exist!

Vote for us!

Redox is part of a game jam, more specifically, The Indie Horror Game Community Jam! This jam allows players like you to rate the games you play, for them to be in for a chance to win, so you know what I’m going to ask you now…

It’s alright, you can be honest. I wouldn’t want you to fib.

Seriously though, rating and commenting goes a long way for small Itch games like ours. It also has the benefit that we all get to read your nice comments and feel good about ourselves, win-win for all!

There may be bugs (sorry)

As I said, Redox was made in little over a month, and 35 days is not a lot of time to construct a horror RPG from scratch (a thing that I thought was a good idea at the time), so please be aware that there may be bugs. I did my best to squash them all in time, but Kelly had a habit of getting stuck on corners of geometry or spinning very quickly on the spot while in a very dramatic scene, so there was a lot to deal with.

If you run into any bugs, I’m sorry. You can always let me know via email, dm me on Bluesky or send me an ask on Tumblr. I would advise not to put them in the Itch comments, because Itch doesn’t do a great job of telling me when I get one of those.

After the voting period is over in a few days time (go vote!) I shall be back on fixing the bugs plaguing most players, so do let me know if you’re one of them and expect an update soon!

Looking forward

Morodoll and I haven’t put our feet up now that this version of the game is out (though I do admit we are trying to catch up on sleep). It may have caught your attention that there are a few questions left unanswered at the many endings of Redox, and that is for good reason.

Keep your eyes peeled and follow the game for more updates very soon on the future of Redox!

You said we were going to see some bad art from you

Did I?

Yes you did, at the beginning

Oh yeah, I did. Damn.

Well, here you go! To all the people who took the time to give our game a try, thank you from all of us for playing!

Can you tell we needed professional artists?

Thanks for playing everyone! Speak to you soon.
